Internships at MPHA

MPHA is widely recognized for its advocacy, public education, and coalition leadership. Our major successes have involved close work with other organizations, and our effective advocacy has been based on our ability to bring together diverse groups – from labor unions to community health centers – to collaborate effectively on common priorities. We lead and provide staffing assistance to several statewide coalitions, including ones working on school health, the state’s public health budget, environmental health, and local public health infrastructure.

If you are looking for some practical experience in public health, MPHA is the place for you. We offer a wide variety of exciting and challenging internships each semester.

Hear from
past interns...

  • My internship at MPHA allowed me to learn about a wide range of public health issues facing MA, develop skills in policy advocacy, and get to know a great cast of characters in the field -- not the least of which were the amazing MPHA staff! I've stayed closely connected to the staff since my internship in 2004 and they've been a great resouce to me.

    — Maddie Ribble, Boston University School of Public Health

  • Working at MPHA was a wonderful experience that helped focus my interest in advocacy and policy work. It was a fun environment to be part of and a small enough organization that I had the opportunity to get directly involved in some of the decision-making processes.

    — Lindsey Tucker, Harvard School of Public Health
