Massachusetts Hepatitis C Coalition

Support people living with hepatitis C, those caring for them,
and those providing medical & support services

Mission

Approximately 100,000 Massachusetts residents are infected with hepatitis C, a virus that can lead to liver damage, liver failure, and death. The Massachusetts Hepatitis C Coalition is a collaborative effort of organizations, providers and consumers, working to increase awareness of hepatitis C and support for programs addressing the needs of those at risk for and affected by hepatitis C through education, advocacy and coalition-building.

Activities

Outreach and Membership: Develop and cultivate relationships with community leaders, policy makers, providers, people living with or at risk of hepatitis C, and others who address this population. Identify the shared needs and areas of concern among individuals and organizations.

Education: Develop programs and support services to benefit people living with hepatitis C. Raise awareness about hepatitis C with social service and medical providers and in the greater community.

Advocacy and Policy: Advocate for expanded prevention, testing, and health care for those living with or at risk for hepatitis C. Collaborate with legislators and interested parties to strengthen existing services, programs, resources, and policies for those affected by hepatitis C.

Communication: Inform members and key stakeholders about hepatitis C through the Internet and across public media.
