Support people living with hepatitis C, those caring
for them,
and those providing medical & support services
Mission
Approximately 100,000 Massachusetts residents are
infected with hepatitis C, a virus that can lead to liver damage, liver
failure, and death. The Massachusetts Hepatitis C Coalition is a collaborative
effort of organizations, providers and consumers, working to increase
awareness of hepatitis C and support for programs addressing the needs
of those at risk for and affected by hepatitis C through education, advocacy
and coalition-building.
Activities
Outreach and Membership: Develop
and cultivate relationships with community leaders, policy makers,
providers, people living with or at risk of hepatitis C, and others
who address this population. Identify
the shared needs and areas of concern among individuals and organizations.
Education: Develop programs
and support services to benefit people living with hepatitis C. Raise
awareness about hepatitis C with social service and medical providers
and in the greater community.
Advocacy and Policy: Advocate
for expanded prevention, testing, and health care for those living
with or at risk for hepatitis C. Collaborate with legislators
and interested parties to strengthen existing services, programs, resources,
and policies for those affected by hepatitis C.
Communication: Inform members and key stakeholders
about hepatitis C through the Internet and across public media.
