MPHA’s Committees in Central and Western Massachusetts provide a critical regional voice for public health, strengthening statewide advocacy and addressing local health concerns. You are welcome to contact our local organizers if you’d like to get involved.
Central Massachusetts Regional Committee
MPHA is bringing together diverse voices to advocate
for public health in
Central Massachusetts, from middle school students to medical school
professors to neighborhood activists. Our members have passed resolutions
for better school nutrition, met with lawmakers about environmental legislation,
and spoken about public health issues on radio and television. We
are working to make schools safe and healthy, and galvanizing organizations
throughout the region to strengthen local public health. We always
welcome new, energetic voices to our committee.
Western Massachusetts Regional Committee
MPHA is becoming a genuine voice for public health in Western Massachusetts, from the urban neighborhoods of Springfield to the rural Berkshire communities. Our members have successfully advocated for legislation, published numerous letters in area newspapers, and connected with activists and community groups throughout the region. MPHA has helped form coalitions around local issues ranging from rebuilding a greenhouse at a Holyoke elementary school to training community health workers, and we co-sponsor a successful quarterly legislative breakfast. We welcome your active involvement in our advocacy and organizing around statewide and local public health concerns.
